Poland has confirmed two new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza, which led to the destruction of over 50 thousand ducks and turkeys on farms in two provinces of the country. Both cases were recorded in November: one in the village of Kornatowo, the other in the village of Romanówek. Anti-epizootic measures are currently being implemented to prevent the spread of the disease.
Since the beginning of 2025, there have already been 109 cases of avian influenza in Poland, and a total of 327 cases have been recorded in EU countries. French experts believe that this virus could be even more dangerous for humanity than the Covid-19 pandemic if it continues to mutate and spread among people. Recently in the USA, the world's first fatal infection of a person with the H5N5 avian influenza virus occurred, when one person died from the infection.
