In Poland, the minimum wage for 2027 has been finalized. Starting from January 1, it will be 4950 zlotys gross per month, and the minimum hourly rate will increase to 32.30 zlotys. Previously, the government considered another amount for the minimum wage. This is reported by InPoland.
What will be the minimum wage in Poland from January 1, 2027
The Council of Ministers' resolution with the new rates was published on September 15 in the Polish Dziennik Ustaw. Therefore, starting from 2027, the minimum monthly wage will be 4950 zlotys gross.
In 2026, the minimum wage is 4806 zlotys. Thus, the increase will be 144 zlotys, or approximately 3%. Earlier, Inkorr explained in detail how much a worker receives net after taxes and contributions from the minimum wage.
The minimum hourly rate, which applies, in particular, to certain civil-law contracts, will also increase. Instead of the current 31.40 zlotys, it will be 32.30 zlotys gross. The increase will amount to 0.90 zlotys per hour, or about 2.9%.
The increase turned out to be much more modest than expected by trade unions. They proposed setting the minimum wage at 5200 zlotys. Employer representatives supported the government's lower proposal.
Why the minimum wage in Poland did not exceed 5000 zlotys
The parties could not agree on a new rate within the Council of Social Dialogue. In this case, Polish legislation provides that the final amount of the minimum wage is determined independently by the Council of Ministers.
Earlier in the spring, significantly higher forecasts emerged. In particular, due to planned changes in the calculation methodology, it was anticipated that the minimum wage could exceed 5000 zlotys. However, the amount approved by the government remained below this psychological level.
Over the past 12 years, the minimum wage in Poland has almost tripled. In 2015, it was 1750 zlotys gross, while starting from January 2027, workers will be guaranteed at least 4950 zlotys.
The minimum wage increased most rapidly in 2023-2024 against the backdrop of high inflation. During that time, the government revised it twice within a year. In 2027, the increase will be one-time and significantly more restrained.
