New rules for shooting wild boars in Poland
As of March 18, 2023, Poland is implementing a new rule regulating the reward for shooting wild boars. This decision has been taken in connection with the fight against African swine fever, which poses a serious threat to pigs and pig farming in the country.
Reward for shooting boars
According to the new regulations, hunters will receive 650 zlotys for shooting a female wild boar, which amounts to approximately 7745 hryvnias. In the case of shooting other individuals, the reward will amount to 300 zlotys, or 3575 hryvnias.
It is important to note that:
- 80% of this amount will go directly to the hunter,
- 20% will be directed to the Polish Hunting Association, the tenant, or the manager of the land.
These new regulations will replace the previous regulations in place since 2018 and aim to increase the effectiveness of controlling the population of wild boars in the country.
The implementation of the new rules for shooting wild boars in Poland indicates the authorities' serious approach to controlling animal populations in the context of the threat posed by African swine fever. This decision could affect pig farming in the country, as reducing the population of wild boars aims to prevent the spread of the virus among domestic pigs.
Similar measures may also serve as an example for other countries facing similar problems in veterinary and animal health care.
