A Polish Blogger’s Face Was Permanently Disfigured by Daily Silicone Injections

Блогерка з Польщі зазнала серйозних наслідків через щоденні ін'єкції силікону.

The Story of Elva

For years, a 26-year-old blogger from Poland known as Elva injected silicone into her own face on a daily basis, leading to severe facial deformation. She initially used fat-dissolving products twice a week before moving on to silicone injections, which she administered every single day. Elva also ordered botox online and injected it herself. These repeated, self-performed procedures dramatically altered her appearance.

After enduring the dangerous consequences of her actions, Elva eventually sought medical help to reverse the damage. Born male and originally named Wojtek, she noted that

Risks of Cosmetic Procedures

Meanwhile, in the Poltava region of Ukraine, a case of iatrogenic botulism linked to cosmetic treatments was reported. A woman received an injection of botulinum toxin (botox) in a private clinic, which resulted in serious health complications. This incident highlights the dangers of cosmetic services, particularly when there is insufficient oversight of their quality and safety.

Together, these cases underscore serious safety concerns in the cosmetic industry, a sector growing increasingly popular among young people. As demand for aesthetic enhancements rises, ensuring proper regulation is critical, as the outcomes can be devastating. The surge in accidents from DIY or improperly performed procedures emphasizes the urgent need for:

  • stricter legal regulations;
  • consumer education campaigns.
