On August 10, 2026, Polish border patrol officers in Slubice pulled over an Audi with Ukrainian license plates. The driver, a 42-year-old Lithuanian national, presented documents that didn't match the registration plates on the vehicle. A subsequent VIN check revealed that the car had been stolen in Germany. Further inspection showed that the Audi's electrical system had been manipulated, enabling the car to be started with a specialized diagnostic computer. Inside the cabin, officers discovered a bag containing dried plant material, which tested positive for illegal narcotics. The driver also appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

The suspect was immediately arrested and now faces up to five years in prison. The recovered Audi is valued at close to 100,000 zloty—over 120,000 hryvnias—and has been impounded and secured for evidence. Polish police have launched a full investigation into the incident.
"After checking the VIN, we confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen in Germany," a representative of the Polish Border Guard (Straż Graniczna) said. "We also determined that the electrical system was forged, and the car was being started with a special diagnostic computer."
