The Russian Threat
Lieutenant General Krzysztof Krol of the Polish Armed Forces has declared that Russia is waging a hybrid war against Poland, targeting infrastructure, cyberspace, and society. He specifically highlighted a recent attempted sabotage of Poland's railway system, which, while causing no casualties, could have resulted in a major disaster.
'This attack did not cause any casualties. But if it had succeeded, hundreds of people would have died. Would that have been sufficient cause to activate Article 5?' – Krzysztof Krol
He further emphasized that 'they are testing us' and asserted that Russia is already at war with Poland.
Poland's Response to the Threats
Krzysztof Krol stressed that if Poland fails to respond to these attacks, it could ultimately face defeat in the long term. 'You try to contain us militarily. But we can strike you at any time—across your entire society, deep within your territories,' he stated. The general also expressed the view that a prepared NATO could defeat Russia.
In response to these threats, Poland is expanding its army and investing in weaponry. The country is also advancing its drone capabilities. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has weighed in on the situation, suggesting the possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin could be removed by his inner circle.
