Polish historian Lukasz Adamski believes that there is a lack of monuments to Symon Petlyura and Ivan Mazepa in Kyiv. He called on Ukrainians and Poles to work together to restore their role in the history of the country, which, in his opinion, remains overshadowed by the figure of Stepan Bandera. He stated this in an interview for the website 'Hlavkom'.
The historian emphasized that the army of the Ukrainian People's Republic and its leaders are practically forgotten in the memory of the Poles, and he urged to restore this historical narrative. Noting the exclusion from history of other heroes who supported the Polish troops, Lukasz Adamski expressed a high opinion of the reasonable policies of Petlyura and Mazepa, who sought compromises to preserve Ukraine, although they were not always understood by the general public.
In his statements, historian Lukasz Adamski underscored the necessity of honoring the role of Petlyura and Mazepa in the history of Ukraine, as well as restoring the correct historical narrative, beyond which these figures remain in the shadow.
