Massive Russian Strikes Hit Poltava and Zaporizhzhia Regions

Великі удари з боку Росії вразили Полтавщину та Запоріжжя.

Ukraine: Key Events on June 6

On June 6, a hostile unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed in the Poltava district, damaging an industrial facility and a residential area. No casualties were reported in the Poltava district during the incident. However, the crash shattered eight windows and damaged the roofs of a two-story apartment building and several private homes. A total of 28 personnel and two pieces of specialized equipment were deployed to manage the aftermath.

The same day, the Russian military attacked Zaporizhzhia, injuring a 10-year-old boy and his father. The assault also targeted two boats belonging to the maritime search-and-rescue service, which were carrying out a humanitarian mission within Ukraine's maritime corridor. Evacuation efforts are ongoing using vessels from the Ukrainian Navy.

Support for Victims

Social workers are conducting door-to-door visits to assist those affected.

“Staff from the city district councils are providing all necessary initial consultations. We are currently working on four addresses. At least eight windows and the roofs of a two-story apartment building and private homes have been damaged,” said Kateryna Yamshchykova.
Meanwhile, Ivan Fedorov emphasized that
“in recent months, the enemy has upgraded certain types of weapons. Yesterday, they used a Shahed drone to carry FPV drones into the city center and randomly scattered them over civilian targets.”

These events highlight the ongoing escalation of the conflict and the threat to civilians in Ukraine. Although no lives were lost in the Poltava district, the attacks on Zaporizhzhia demonstrate that hostile forces continue to target civilian infrastructure, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and civilian protection. Social services are actively providing support to victims, stressing the critical role of humanitarian aid amid armed conflict.

The recent attacks have raised concerns about the safety of critical infrastructure in the region. In a related incident, an overnight strike on Poltava led to a fire in a government building, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by both civilian and state facilities.
