Yaroslav Yevdokimov was born in the Ukrainian city of Rivne on November 22, 1946. His parents were repressed, and he met his mother only when he was 10 years old. After serving in the army, he graduated from the Minsk Music College named after M. Glinka and began his career as a pop singer in Belarus. He moved to Moscow in the mid-1990s when he became a soloist of Mosestradi.
In 2017, Yevdokimov accused the Russian authorities of unleashing the war in southeastern Ukraine and distanced himself from the Russian Federation after the start of the full-scale invasion.
