Petro Ostapyshyn, the long-time host of Lviv Regional State Television, passed away at the age of 77 in Lviv. This was reported by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.


'It is with sadness that I learned of the death of the legendary Lviv host Petro Ostapyshyn. For decades, Sunday and the 'Concert of Greetings' on Lviv television were something more than just a tradition. He truly was a man of an era, the face of Lviv television. He managed to gather an incredible number of people from all corners of the region in front of the screens. We mourn and express our sincere condolences from the entire community. Bright memory.'

Oleg Klymovych, a former colleague of Petro Ostapyshyn, also expressed his quiet farewell: 'Today, with deep sadness, we say goodbye to our colleague - the announcer of Lviv television, host of the beloved programs: 'Concert of Greetings' and 'Coffee in Lviv style'. Petro Ostapyshyn will remain in our memory as a person of high culture, subtle artistic taste, true intelligence, and decency.

Petro Ostapyshyn is mainly known as the host of the 'Concert of Greetings' program, which he led for 38 years. After finishing his work on television in 2018, he taught at the Lviv branch of the National University of Culture and Arts.


The cause of death has not been disclosed.
