How Ukrainian Drones Captured Over 100 Russian Soldiers This Winter

Безпілотники України: незвичайна зимова операція проти загарбників.

Unmanned Units in the Ukrainian Army

Ukrainian drone units captured more than 100 Russian military personnel this winter. Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, who oversees drone procurement, released video footage documenting these surrenders. Drone operators remotely guide captured soldiers to Ukrainian positions, demonstrating the effectiveness of unmanned technology in modern warfare.

“This winter, 100+ occupiers laid down their arms thanks to the work of drone units. Each such prisoner is an opportunity to bring our defenders home,” stated Mykhailo Fedorov.

Over the three winter months, drones struck 88,898 enemy personnel, while total Russian losses for the period were 92,475 individuals. Ukraine's Defense Forces also downed or destroyed over 15,000 enemy drones, indicating a high level of counter-drone capability. In February, one in every three Russian soldiers eliminated was credited to UAV operators, highlighting their crucial role in combat operations.

Operations by Ukraine's Defense Forces

In a separate operation, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck targets in the area of Donetsk Airport. The mission was conducted jointly by units of the Rocket Forces and Artillery of the Ground Forces and the aviation of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These actions confirm the coordinated work of various branches of the Ukrainian military in countering the aggression.

The use of drone technology by Ukraine marks significant tactical progress in the conduct of the war. The increase in prisoners taken and enemy forces destroyed demonstrates the effectiveness of Ukrainian military actions. This winter has been a notable phase in the conflict, with drones playing a key role in achieving strategic objectives, a factor that could influence the future course of the war.
