Ukrainian Defense Industry Showcases Innovations at MSPO 2026
At the international defense exhibition MSPO 2026 in Kielce, Poland, more than 30 Ukrainian arms manufacturers presented their latest military technologies. The event features 1,200 exhibitors representing 40 countries, highlighting the global scale of the defense sector. Among the Ukrainian participants, Fire Point stood out by unveiling its long-range cruise missile 'Flamingo,' alongside ballistic missiles FP-7 and FP-9.
This year’s MSPO marks the European debut of several cutting-edge Ukrainian defense developments. Notable innovations include the 'Peklo' rocket drones, the kamikaze drones 'Lyutyi,' and the 'Koral' surface-to-air missile launcher.
Detailed Overview of the 'Koral' Missile System
The 'Koral' launcher, developed by the Ukroboronprom consortium, is mounted on a Czech Tatra truck chassis. The missile model weighs 450 kg with a 36 kg warhead. Measuring 4.8 meters in length, the missile’s diameter ranges between 230 and 300 mm. It features an 835 mm wingspan and 685 mm control surfaces.
The missile employs a guidance system that integrates inertial navigation, radio correction, and an active radar homing head. Designed primarily to intercept aerial and ballistic targets, the 'Koral' can also, in exceptional cases, engage ground or sea targets with strong radar signatures.
Development on the 'Koral' missile began in 2016, with a full-scale model unveiled by the Luch Design Bureau at the 'Weapons and Security 2021' exhibition. The missile is part of a naval air defense complex and is intended as a modular, unified missile system adaptable for both land-based and naval applications, with potential use as an air-to-air missile.
Since its inception in 1993, MSPO has become the largest defense industry exhibition in Central and Eastern Europe, held annually in Kielce, Poland.
The participation of Ukrainian defense producers at MSPO 2026 underscores Ukraine’s growing role on the global defense stage and highlights the importance of international collaboration amid evolving security challenges. Showcasing innovations like the 'Koral' missile system reflects significant advancements in Ukraine’s military technology and its efforts to boost national defense capabilities, which could influence regional security dynamics. The exhibition also serves as a vital forum for establishing new partnerships and exchanging expertise among international participants.
