The French judiciary examined two cases that shocked the public. In the first case, four individuals were convicted for the forced prostitution of a 16-year-old girl who was kept in captivity. The perpetrator offered the girl accommodation but then exploited her for sexual services. The victim endured about 300 rapes during her 40 days of captivity. Three individuals received actual prison sentences, while the fourth was given a suspended sentence.
In the second case, a former anesthesiologist was sentenced to life imprisonment for poisoning patients, resulting in the deaths of 12 people. Frédéric Pêche was found guilty of events that occurred from 2008 to 2017. The court recognized that the doctor deliberately inserted substances into the IV drips that led to the patients' deaths. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
