The Marriage of Yurii Husiev and Olha Husieva

After more than a year of legal proceedings, Ukraine’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yurii Husiev, and his wife Olha have decided to stay together. Husiev, a former head of the Kherson Regional State Administration and former director of Ukroboronprom, had filed for divorce three times between 2023 and 2025, but each case was dismissed without a final ruling.

Husiev first submitted a divorce petition in 2023. He made a second attempt in January 2025. In May 2025, Olha Husieva filed for divorce herself. However, on July 2, 2025, the court dropped the case entirely after the petitioner’s side withdrew from the proceedings.

Reconciliation and Family Unity

Following these events, Yurii Husiev released a statement:

'After more than a year of court hearings, long conversations, reflection, and joint effort to find a solution, Olha Husieva and I have decided to preserve our family and continue our life together—as husband and wife, as a family.'

He also thanked everyone who supported them during this difficult time, adding: 'Special thanks to all who stood by us, offered kind words, prayers, or simply showed they cared.'

Husiev expressed gratitude to his wife for their shared decision, her wisdom, patience, and willingness to meet each other halfway. In the end, the couple chose to maintain their relationship despite the lengthy court process and multiple attempts at divorce.

This story highlights how even public figures face complex personal struggles. Legal battles over divorce can be prolonged and emotionally draining, often influencing whether a couple ultimately splits or reconciles. It also serves as a reminder that the support of loved ones and a willingness to communicate can play a crucial role in overcoming relationship challenges.

For context, Yurii Husiev was appointed Ukraine’s ambassador to Azerbaijan in 2022, following a career in regional governance and the defense industry. The couple’s case underscores how high-profile diplomatic duties and personal life can intersect in unexpected ways.

While the story of Yurii Husiev and Olha Husieva emphasizes the importance of communication and support during challenging times, it also resonates with other public figures navigating personal crises. For instance, Olga Gorbachova's recent reflections on her divorce shed light on the emotional complexities involved in such decisions, illustrating that the journey toward resolution can vary significantly from one couple to another.
