The Situation for Ukrainians in Israel
Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniichuk, has stated there is no widespread panic among Ukrainians currently in the country. As of now, approximately 25 people have registered with the embassy for departure. Despite the complex situation, the ambassador noted:
“There is no panic; only about 25 people have registered with us to leave” - Yevhen Korniichuk
Alternative Departure Routes
Korniichuk also detailed alternative exit routes for Ukrainians wishing to leave Israel. The most popular path currently is via Eilat, the Egyptian Taba crossing, and Sharm el-Sheikh. The ambassador clarified that organizing an evacuation charter flight requires at least 100 applications, a threshold that has not yet been met.
- The cost of a charter flight to Chisinau would be approximately $300-400 USD per person.
- Korniichuk emphasized: 'If we receive requests from at least 100 people, then we can arrange a charter, and people will fly at cost price'.
- Following statements from Iran, security measures have been heightened at Ukrainian diplomatic missions, underscoring the seriousness of the regional tensions.
The situation for Ukrainians in Israel remains manageable, despite global and regional challenges. A key point is that the embassy is prepared to organize evacuation flights, but this requires an active response from citizens. This highlights the importance of an organized approach to departure, especially under heightened security protocols. The embassy's stance reflects a common diplomatic practice of ensuring a viable number of participants before initiating costly evacuation operations.
The interview with the ambassador was provided to the publication 'Glavcom'.
