Joint Video Greeting for Kyiv Day
The embassies of the United Kingdom, Germany, and France have released a joint video message in honor of Kyiv Day, describing the Ukrainian capital as a second home. This announcement was made by the British Embassy in Ukraine, as cited by Glavkom. Kyiv celebrates its birthday on the last Sunday of May each year, and this time, the diplomatic missions chose to express their support and solidarity with the city's residents through this special gesture.
In the collaborative video greeting, the diplomats stated that Kyiv has become a second home for them. They expressed gratitude for the city’s wonderful and courageous people, who are able to restore light even after the darkest nights, and also highlighted Kyiv’s openness to the world and its unwavering faith during times of trial.
'We are here, dear Kyiv. You have become a second home to us, and it is impossible not to love you. Your beautiful, brave people who bring back light even after the darkest nights. Your openness to the world and your faith—in times of trial. Your stubbornness and your fight for freedom. We believe in your future and are proud to stand by you. Unwaveringly yours...' The diplomats also prepared a cultural gift for Kyiv’s residents, continuing a traditional musical initiative. This project was carried out in collaboration with Ukrainian musical groups and state institutions. The video greeting was filmed on the grounds of the National Sanctuary of St. Sophia of Kyiv, for which the diplomats expressed their gratitude to the institution.
Solidarity with the People of Kyiv
Kyiv, which has been the heart of Ukraine for over 1,500 years, continues to attract attention and support from international partners. This demonstrates the solidarity and friendly relations between Ukraine and European countries, especially during challenging times. The diplomatic missions hope that this greeting will inspire the capital’s residents to new achievements and strengthen the spirit of unity.
As Kyiv Day approaches, the city is not only celebrated by its residents but also receives heartfelt messages from around the world. In addition to the joint video greeting from the embassies, a collection of classic greetings has been released, showcasing the cultural richness and historical significance of Kyiv. This initiative further emphasizes the enduring connections that bind the city to its international partners.
