Despite losses due to shelling, agrarians in Donetsk region continue to harvest
Agrarians in Donetsk region have harvested more than half of the grains and legumes planned. In particular, they have threshed 44.59 thousand hectares, which accounts for 51.7% of the forecasted area.
The forecasted area for harvesting this year is 86.3 thousand hectares, of which 106 thousand tons of grain have already been threshed, with a yield of 23.8 quintals per hectare. In particular, winter and spring wheat have been threshed over an area of 24 thousand hectares, while barley has been collected from 19.99 thousand hectares.
The department emphasized that safety and the proximity of the front line significantly complicate agricultural work in Donetsk. 'Fires in our fields, which arise due to Russian shelling, unfortunately cause significant losses and impact the harvest. Although agricultural workers are rushing to collect it as quickly as possible,' said representatives of the OVA.
