Flood on the island of Siau
A flood occurred on the Indonesian island of Siau, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people. The event happened on January 1, 2023, after heavy rains led to significant inundations. Four more people are considered missing, and 18 individuals have sustained injuries.
In connection with the disaster, over 400 people have been evacuated to safe places. The main transport arteries of the island are blocked, complicating access to affected areas. Authorities have dispatched 16 rescuers to search for the missing persons, as well as excavators to clear blocked roads.
