Air Raid Alert Across Ukraine
An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several Ukrainian regions on January 24 due to a threat of ballistic weapon use originating from Russia's Kursk region. This marked the fifth such alert in the capital within a single day. Also on January 24, a massive attack targeted Ukraine's energy system, causing severe damage to Kyiv's power grid, particularly in the Desnianskyi district. Tens of thousands of households were left without electricity as a result. In response, the energy company DTEK has activated emergency protocols to work on restoring power.
European Union Steps Up Assistance
The European Union is bolstering its support by providing Ukraine with a shipment of generators, expected to arrive within the next week. The announcement of this aid was made by Ukraine's Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, Oleksii Kuleba.
The Kyiv City State Administration has urged residents to proceed immediately to civil defense shelters whenever an air raid siren is activated.
