Ballistic Missile Threat Triggers Air Raid Alerts in Kyiv and Surrounding Regions

Повітряні тривоги оголошено в Києві та околицях через загрозу балістичних ракет.

Air Raid Alert Status Across Ukraine

An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several Ukrainian regions as of 12:23 PM on February 12 due to a threat of ballistic weapon use. Intelligence suggests Russian forces may have launched an 'Iskander-M' type missile. This alert follows a massive overnight assault, during which Ukraine was targeted by 219 attack drones and 25 missiles. These relentless attacks are part of Russia's ongoing campaign to degrade Ukrainian infrastructure and morale.

Massive Strikes and Ukraine's Response

The primary targets of these attacks were energy facilities in Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro, including power generation sites and substations. It is notable that the Russian Federation employs between 100 and 200 Iranian-made Shahed attack drones daily, highlighting the persistent and sustained nature of the threat from Russian forces.

In response to these actions, Ukrainian Defense Force units struck an arsenal in the Kotluban settlement area of Russia's Volgograd region during the night of February 12. This arsenal belongs to the Russian Defense Ministry's Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate, underscoring Ukraine's active measures to disrupt enemy logistics and defend its territory. Such cross-border strikes represent a significant shift in Ukraine's defensive strategy.

The situation in Ukraine remains tense, with constant threats from Russia manifesting as mass attacks on critical infrastructure. This underscores the necessity for heightened readiness among Ukrainian defense forces and the continuation of an active strategy to counter threats. Simultaneously, these actions highlight the critical importance of sustained international support for Ukraine in its struggle against aggression.
