On May 17, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several other Ukrainian regions due to the threat of unmanned aerial vehicles. The sirens went off in the evening, affecting not only the capital but also parts of Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk oblasts.

The Kyiv City Military Administration urged residents to take cover, stating:

“Attention. An air raid alert has been declared in Kyiv. We ask everyone to immediately proceed to civil protection shelters.”
