Alert Issued Over Potential Ballistic Missile Attack
Ukraine's Air Force has warned that there is a high probability of a medium-range ballistic missile strike within the next 24 hours. According to intelligence, the missile could be launched from the Kapustin Yar test range in Russia, likely involving the Orieshnik missile. The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation urged the public to take air raid warnings seriously:
“Pay close attention to the alerts. The enemy is once again active at the Kapustin Yar range.”
Attack on May 24
On the night of May 24, Russia used an Orieshnik ballistic missile in an attack on Ukraine. The missile struck garages in Bila Tserkva, where a security guard named Tetiana Ivanivna was on duty at the time of the impact. The Orieshnik missile was manufactured nearly a decade ago, and analysis of fragments recovered after a January strike revealed that it contained only Russian and Belarusian components. This indicates that the Orieshnik is a product of deep modernization of Soviet and post-Soviet technologies.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated:
“There is a high likelihood that the enemy will use a medium-range ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar range within the next 24 hours. Do not ignore air raid warnings!”
This information underscores the need for civilian preparedness against potential threats and the importance of following safety measures.
This situation highlights the ongoing dangers Ukraine faces amid the conflict and emphasizes the critical need for timely responses to warning signals. Given previous attacks, including the use of Orieshnik missiles, it is essential to remain vigilant and adhere to military recommendations to minimize risks to civilians.
In light of the recent warnings from Ukraine's Air Force, it is crucial to understand the broader context of the security situation. The U.S. Embassy has also issued alerts regarding the risk of a large-scale attack on Ukraine, underscoring the urgency for citizens to remain vigilant and prepared for potential threats in the coming days.
