Kyiv Substation Fire Causes Power Outage and Disrupts Public Transport

Вогняна надзвичайна ситуація в Київській підстанції призвела до перебоїв в електропостачанні та зупинки руху транспорту.

Power Supply Disruption in Dniprovskyi District

A fire at an electrical substation has caused a power outage in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district. Emergency crews are on the scene working to resolve the incident. The loss of power has disrupted the operation of several electric public transport routes. Specifically, the following services are not running:

  • Trolleybus routes No. 30, 31, 34, 37, 43, 44, 47, 50, 50-K;
  • Tram routes No. 22, 27, 28, 33, 35.

Fires Reported in Brovary and Ivankiv

In a separate incident, a fire broke out in a private residential house in Brovary during the night of April 17. One person was rescued during the firefighting operation. Authorities also reported a fire in the village of Ivankiv, in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region, which was ignited by a firework. A 19-year-old local resident is suspected of arson in the Ivankiv case. The fire started when a domestic 'fountain' firework was activated, setting alight dry grass and undergrowth. These incidents highlight the ongoing risks of fire hazards in the region, especially during periods where celebratory items like fireworks are used.

The situation is under control, but residents are urged to remain cautious and adhere to safety regulations.

The power outage in Dniprovskyi district is significantly impacting daily life, as the halted electric transport creates considerable inconvenience for commuters. Meanwhile, the fires in Brovary and Ivankiv underscore the critical need to follow fire safety rules, particularly during events involving pyrotechnics. Mitigating the consequences of these emergencies requires coordinated efforts from local services, emphasizing the importance of a swift response to such incidents.

As the power outage continues to affect daily life in Kyiv, recent incidents such as the nighttime fire in Brovary serve as a reminder of the urgent need for fire safety. With emergency services stretched thin, understanding the circumstances surrounding these events is crucial for residents to stay informed and safe during this challenging time.
