Fire at Chevron refinery in California: causes of the explosion and government response

On Thursday evening, the Chevron oil refinery in El Segundo, near Los Angeles, exploded, causing a large fire. People nearby reported that the fire and smoke were visible from a great distance. According to local media, explosions had preceded the fire at the refinery.



The office of the Governor of California confirmed the incident and stated that it is working with local and state agencies to ensure community safety. The causes of the fire are currently unknown, and there are no reports of injuries.





Fire departments are currently working to extinguish the fire while officials state that Los Angeles International Airport has not been affected. At the same time, the approval rating of U.S. President Donald Trump has reached a record low of 43%, according to recent polls. Negative sentiments towards him have increased from 52% at the beginning of the year to 57% in September.



The incident at the Chevron oil refinery in California has resulted in a large fire, as reported by witnesses and the media. Fire brigades are actively extinguishing the flames, and authorities are ensuring population safety in the region. President Trump's previous rating has deteriorated, which may affect his popularity among citizens.
