Fire hazard at ZNPP due to burning reeds
There is again a fire hazard at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP – this time near the power units of the station. According to Energoatom, dry reeds are burning at the site of the destroyed Kakhovka reservoir by Russians.
«The situation at ZNPP remains tense due to the incompetent management of the station by the fake Russian leadership, which constantly violates the requirements of nuclear, radiation, and fire safety,» it is stated in the message.
Energoatom emphasized that this is confirmed by the constant fires at the station captured by the Russians, which have become systemic. 'The new event today directly threatens the nuclear, radiation, and fire safety of the station due to the proximity of the fire to the critical infrastructure of ZNPP.'
New dangers at ZNPP
Moreover, Energoatom reminded of similar incidents in the past. For example, on August 11, 2024, cooling tower No. 1 of the station's technical water supply system completely burned down, and on July 19, 2025, smoke was recorded in the vicinity of ZNPP as a result of a forest fire. Currently, there is also smoke in the area of the cargo port near the temporarily occupied ZNPP, details are being established.
We remind you that on August 10, as a result of a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia, the external crisis center of ZNPP was damaged. As a result, no employees were harmed, but the office building sustained partial damage.
Ukrainian nuclear energy is again under threat due to the fire hazard at the ZNPP, which is under the control of the occupiers. The concern should truly affect not only the station employees but also all residents and liquidators who are taking measures to prevent incidents. This situation signals the need for constant monitoring and support of Ukrainian nuclear facilities in the conflict zone.
