A fire on the railway section near the village of Mykhailivka in the Krupets territorial community of the Dubno district occurred on Sunday night, August 17, reports 'Glavkom' referencing the State Emergency Service in Rivne region.
Firefighters established that the fire broke out in the electric locomotive of a freight train and immediately began extinguishing it.
The flames destroyed one of the sections of the electric locomotive, but rescuers managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the second section, which minimized the damage
Fortunately, the incident resulted without casualties or injuries. The causes of the fire are being investigated, and three fire engines and 19 rescuers were involved in the liquidation.
As a reminder, recently law enforcement detained an employee of the 'Mukachevo Locomotive Depot' of the regional branch 'Lviv Railway' who was 'transporting' draft evaders in the driver's cabin of a diesel locomotive to the state border.
According to information from Glavkom, the driver and assistant who left Ukraine for Poland by train were under the influence of alcohol. The Ukrainians were fined and expelled from Poland for 5 years.
As a result of the fire on the railway section, it was possible to prevent the spread of the flames and minimize negative consequences, but the causes and damages are already being established by the relevant services.
