Roshen Chocolate Factory Warehouse Fire
A fire at a warehouse belonging to the Roshen chocolate factory in Yahotyn, Kyiv region, has been extinguished. The blaze broke out overnight on February 7th, ignited by a drone strike as part of a wider Russian assault. This incident was a consequence of a massive attack by Russian forces on February 6-7, which targeted multiple regions across Ukraine. The Roshen brand is one of Eastern Europe's largest confectionery producers, making such strikes on civilian industry particularly damaging.
From the evening of February 6th and throughout the night of February 7th, Russian forces launched a combined assault on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted 406 out of 477 incoming targets. Despite these efforts, the attack resulted in a strike on a residential building in the Rivne region and caused damage to critical infrastructure facilities.
Also during the night of February 7th, the Russian military used drones to hit a critical infrastructure site in the Volyn region, resulting in damage to a local facility.
Assault on Ukraine's Critical Infrastructure
The attack was widespread. The Ivano-Frankivsk region was struck by cruise missiles and drones, with a series of explosions reported in the city of Burshtyn. Explosions were also heard in Vinnytsia, where an educational institution was damaged. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, enemy drones caused damage in the city of Dnipro, affecting a municipal enterprise, buildings, trolleybuses, and other vehicles. The Khmelnytskyi region also suffered from a missile and drone attack, which left one man wounded.
Commenting on the event, Volodymyr Horkovenko stated: 'Overnight, the Rashists destroyed one of the largest Roshen warehouses in the city of Yahotyn in Kyiv region. The fire has already been extinguished. This is what the warehouses look like. There is no military equipment there whatsoever.'
This assault is part of a broader Russian military strategy aimed at crippling Ukraine's critical infrastructure. The targeting of facilities with no military purpose causes significant alarm among the population and underscores the urgent need to strengthen air defense systems. Such attacks on logistical and industrial hubs disrupt supply chains and place further strain on Ukraine's wartime economy.
