Use of interceptor drones in Ukraine
Throughout December and January, Ukraine's air defense system is transitioning to the mass use of interceptor drones, particularly more economical drones for destroying enemy drones. The supply of such drones has exceeded 1500 units per day, indicating a significant increase in the capabilities of the Ukrainian military to combat aerial threats.
Military units have ordered and received over 7 thousand interceptor drones, which can reach speeds of 160–300 km/h and ascend to heights of over 3 km. The cost of one interceptor drone ranges from $2,000 to $2,500. This saturation of the front allows for conserving scarce anti-aircraft missiles for more complex targets.
DOT-Chain Defence Marketplace
A separate tool that enhances air defense capabilities is the operation of the DOT-Chain Defence weapons marketplace, which was launched in pilot mode in mid-2025. This system allows for reducing the supply cycle of drones to 5–10 days, which is crucial for responding to aerial threats. Thus, Ukraine continues to actively develop its capabilities in the field of air defense, utilizing cutting-edge technologies.
Equipping Ukraine's air defense with interceptor drones is an important step in strengthening the country's defense capabilities amid increasing aerial threats. In particular, the use of drones allows for reducing reliance on expensive anti-aircraft missiles, which is critically important in a situation of limited resources. The introduction of the DOT-Chain Defence marketplace underscores the trend towards integrating modern technologies into the military sphere, which could significantly enhance response effectiveness to threats and optimize supply processes.
