The air defense shot down two Russian Kinzhal missiles in Lviv region on February 11, 2026

On Wednesday, February 11, explosions were heard in Lviv during a missile threat. The air defense forces neutralized two Russian missiles X-47M2 «Kinzhal» that were moving towards the city and the region. This was reported by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

The city authorities warned residents about the danger at 14:47. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi informed about the work of the air defense and urged people to stay in shelters. Later, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed about another high-speed target that was heading from the south of Rivne region towards Lviv region.

 

Attack on Lviv on February 11: sequence of events

The head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, confirmed the movement of missiles towards the region. It later became known that two «Kinzhal» missiles were flying towards Lviv, which were successfully destroyed by air defense forces.

The mayor of Lviv emphasized that there is no information about destruction or casualties, and the relevant services are inspecting the community area.

Work of air defense and reason for missile threat

An air alert was declared across Ukraine due to the takeoff in Russia of a MiG-31K fighter, which is a carrier of X-47M2 «Kinzhal» missiles. The city council thanked Ukrainian defenders for their effective work in protecting the sky.
