Prague bans electric scooters: what will happen in 2026

In Prague, electric scooters have been banned since the beginning of 2026 due to safety concerns on the city streets. The emergence of this transport has prompted complaints from local residents about obstacles on sidewalks and incidents with tourists. The main representative of the Pirate Party in the city council promises the introduction of new rules to regulate the movement of electric scooters in Prague.



“Electric scooters are finally canceled! My proposal has finally been approved by the city council. Starting in January, a new public transport regulation system will be in effect in Prague, which includes a ban on providing electric scooters.”


According to city officials, electric scooters were causing more accidents than bicycles, hence the decision to ban them was made. New rules are planned to improve the situation on the roads and sidewalks of the Czech capital.
