Starting April 5, the rules for submitting gas meter readings have changed in Ukraine. The main focus is now on digital services, which gradually replace traditional methods of data transmission. This is reported by “Expert”.
This concerns a new approach to accounting for gas consumption, which will affect millions of households. Household consumers are still required to submit readings by the 5th of each month, but now priority is given to online tools.
How to now submit gas readings in Ukraine
A key innovation is the launch of the mobile application “Kub”, integrated with Naftogaz's databases. The application allows automatic reading of indicators through the smartphone camera.
Among the main changes:
-
priority is given to digital data transmission channels
-
the mobile application can independently read the indicators
-
the risk of errors in bills is reduced
Meanwhile, Ukraine has started the large-scale implementation of smart meters. They transmit information to the supplier automatically through secure communication channels without the consumer's involvement.
What happens if readings are not submitted on time
Despite the digital changes, the gas tariff for Naftogaz customers remains at 7.96 UAH per cubic meter.
At the same time, consumers are warned about possible consequences:
-
if data is not submitted on time, consumption will be calculated based on average norms
-
conditional debts may arise, which will need to be disputed
-
old methods of submission will gradually be eliminated.
For those who are not yet using the new systems, chatbots and personal accounts on websites remain available. Meanwhile, experts recommend transitioning to digital tools now, as traditional methods plan to be completely removed by the end of 2026.
Recall that in spring 2026, the company Naftogaz of Ukraine updated payment details for gas payments, which affects over 12 million households.
