The State Customs Service of Ukraine reminded citizens about the restrictions on taking cash abroad, which may lead to confiscation of money and fines if these rules are violated.

According to the rules, Ukrainians can cross the border with cash up to 10,000 euros equivalent without filling out a customs declaration, regardless of the currency. Amounts exceeding this limit must be declared with an explanation of the source of the funds.

A crucial aspect: the limit of 10,000 euros includes not only cash but also jewelry and securities, which are valued by customs officers at the border according to the current exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine.

To transport an amount exceeding the limit, it is necessary to use the red corridor. This mandatory route is intended for passengers who have valuables that require special permission, but there is no established maximum limit for export.

The red corridor also applies to all securities and currency valuables worth more than 10,000 euros.

Foreign exchange market and forecasts

The foreign exchange market of Ukraine remains particularly vulnerable to external factors; however, analysts do not anticipate drastic changes in exchange rate forecasts.

According to bankers' forecasts, the stability of the hryvnia will be maintained by a managed flexibility regime, and the National Bank is doing everything possible to prevent sharp exchange rate fluctuations alongside low inflation and a stable discount rate.

In the long term, a transition to the euro as the main currency is possible due to the increasing economic ties with the European Union and the growing share of euro in international aid and reserves.

Restrictions on taking cash abroad concern Ukrainian citizens who intend to carry a significant amount of money or other valuables outside the country. At the same time, stability of the hryvnia is expected in the foreign exchange market due to the measures of the National Bank and economic trends.
