Grandson of Ivan Franko Passed Away
On August 27, 2025, on the birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko, his grandson Petro Halushchak passed away. He dedicated a lot of time to preserving the memory of his famous ancestor.
At the age of 71, Petro Halushchak died after a prolonged illness. This was reported by the staff of the 'House of Franko' museum and the director of the 'Nahuyivichi' reserve, Bohdan Lazorak.
The museum emphasizes the important role of Halushchak in their work. He actively participated in events, conducted tours, and helped to enrich the museum collection. 'Petro was a true friend of our museum,' his colleagues note.
The Lviv Regional Administration highlighted that Halushchak devoted all his efforts to popularizing the works of Ivan Franko. 'He always infused his work with love for Ukraine and its culture,' the department stressed.

Family and Career
Petro Halushchak belonged to the direct line of the writer's descendants - his mother Ivanna (Asya) Franko was Ivan Franko's granddaughter. He was born on September 12, 1954, in Lviv, where he received a technical education in information-measuring technology.
Halushchak worked as a senior engineer at the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Combustible Minerals of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and later worked at various enterprises.
He had a wife and six sons. Petro Halushchak was actively involved in public life, helping to create the Lviv Union of Large Families 'Happy Family'.
