Estonian PM Kristen Michal Condemns US-Russia Diesel Fuel Deal, Accusing Trump of Enabling Aggression

Естонський прем'єр-міністр Крістен Міхал висловив рішучий протест проти угоди США та Росії щодо дизельного пального, звинувачуючи Трампа в підтримці агресивної політики.

Strong Opposition to US-Russia Fuel Agreement

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal has voiced sharp criticism of the recent agreement between the United States and Russia regarding diesel fuel supplies. This deal, authorized by then-President Donald Trump, followed Ukraine’s refusal to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries. Michal emphasized that such an arrangement undermines Western efforts to cut off financial resources fueling Russia’s military aggression.

Risks and Consequences of the Deal

Michal warned that making deals with authoritarian regimes is a "road to hell," as money from gas and fuel sales continues to finance the killing of innocent civilians. He also expressed skepticism about whether the promised fuel would ever actually be delivered.

"Maintaining a long-term strategy to deprive Russia of revenue is the right path and must be upheld," the Prime Minister stressed.

During negotiations, Ukrainian officials were reportedly informed about the deal by Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who allegedly threatened Ukraine with loss of access to US intelligence if they ignored the demands. In response, Michal called for urgent talks next week in Estonia and at the European Council to explore ways to quickly bolster Ukraine’s ability to strike Russian oil facilities.

"Next week in Estonia and at the European Council, we should discuss how to rapidly increase support for Ukraine so it can shatter Russian oil refineries," he stated.

These statements highlight Estonia’s commitment, alongside its allies, to continue backing Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression.

Michal’s remarks underscore the critical role of international support for Ukraine's resistance against Russia’s invasion. Recent developments demonstrate that Western nations, particularly Estonia, are determined to reinforce sanctions and restrictions on Russia while intensifying aid to Ukraine. The upcoming discussions on expanding military assistance at the European Council may prove pivotal in shaping the conflict’s trajectory and the global response.

The implications of the diesel fuel agreement extend beyond Estonia, as it has sparked significant backlash from various global leaders.
