Urgent Security Meeting Focuses on Protecting Fuel Stations
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky convened an emergency session with industry leaders and officials from the Ministries of Energy, Economy, Finance, Development, the National Security and Defense Council, State Emergency Service, and Ministry of Internal Affairs. This meeting was prompted by a surge in hostile attacks targeting fuel stations, particularly in Kyiv and along international highways. The primary goal was to strengthen safety protocols at these facilities, including adding protective structures and creating shelters for staff and customers.
During the discussions, a new software solution under trial was introduced to detect enemy drones and provide real-time alerts about their movements near gas stations. Koretsky emphasized the importance of this technology, stating:
“We are currently testing a system that tracks drone trajectories and enables early warnings. This will allow automated and prompt alerts at fuel stations regarding incoming hostile drones.” — Serhiy Koretsky
The meeting also addressed the balance of oil product supplies, logistics, and pricing within Ukraine amid Middle Eastern tensions and disruptions in supply chains. The Prime Minister tasked the ministers with accelerating these processes. Plans were outlined to improve rail transport and ease customs procedures for fuel tankers, building on measures successfully implemented in 2022. Koretsky stressed, “We are responding swiftly and effectively to business needs.”
Strengthening Business Coordination During Crisis
A key focus was on enhancing cooperation with the private sector during this challenging period. Koretsky noted, “Regular coordination with businesses will be maintained throughout the crisis.” These initiatives aim to ensure a reliable and secure distribution of fuel products while safeguarding personnel and customers at gas stations.
Given the increased security risks, the government’s actions are designed to protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Introducing advanced drone detection technologies and fostering stronger collaboration with businesses will significantly improve safety at fuel stations. Maintaining steady fuel supplies is vital for Ukraine’s economic resilience during these turbulent times.
