Ukraine is transitioning to a new approach for declaring air alerts — district notifications. Now, the State Emergency Service, together with the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and regional state administrations, will divide the country into districts to respond quickly to potential threats. This system will help reduce the duration of alerts in areas where there is no real need, which addresses the requests of businesses and local communities.
Tests of the new system have shown positive results. The duration of alerts has already significantly decreased in frontline and central regions. For example, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, some communities have received over 100 additional days without alerts. In the Sumy region, the alert time was reduced by 50 days, and in Kharkiv by more than a month in some communities. This allows critical infrastructure and businesses to operate more stably and maintain economic activity in the regions.
The transmission of signals from the Air Forces to the State Emergency Service takes only 8–15 seconds, which significantly improves the responsiveness to potential threats.
