Warning from the President of the Czech Republic
Czech President Petr Pavel warns the West against conceding to Russia in the context of the war against Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of supporting Ukraine and upholding democratic values. In his interview with The Sunday Times, Pavel compared the current situation to 1938, when European countries allowed Adolf Hitler to annex Czechoslovakia. He stressed that the lessons of the past must not be forgotten, as they could have serious consequences for the future.
Pavel noted that if Russia wins the conflict, all Western countries will suffer losses.
“If we allow Russia to emerge victorious from this conflict, we will all lose,”the President of the Czech Republic emphasized. He also pointed out that Ukraine must not lose this conflict, as this will only lead to increased threats of violence, airspace violations, and hybrid attacks.
The necessity of a new security agreement
Furthermore, Pavel drew attention to the necessity of concluding a new security agreement with Moscow in the future.
“If we think about any future relations with Russia, they can only begin after a peace agreement is reached,”he stated. Thus, the President of the Czech Republic called for caution and determination regarding international security matters and support for Ukraine.
