The cancellation of the scheduled meeting between the President of Poland and the absolute world champion in heavyweight boxing Oleksandr Usyk has been officially confirmed by the Polish side. Initially, both parties showed significant interest in the event; however, Usyk's activity on social media triggered a sharp reaction from Polish society, as the boxer supported the opening of the Roman Shukhevych Museum. The situation led to the cancellation of the event, which was planned for October 25.
The Office of the President of Poland decided to avoid image and political risks for the head of state, as Usyk's actions posed heightened sensitivity among the Polish public. Although the boxer has repeatedly expressed gratitude to the country for supporting Ukraine, the reaction to his action became the decisive factor in the cancellation of the planned meeting.
Our airport services did not want to let Mr. Usyk on the plane for no reason. Sober and with documents. What a shame! I know Oleksandr personally. Top-notch and elegant, always respects the law.
Thus, due to the public's rejection of the support from the famous boxer Usyk, the scheduled meeting with the President of Poland was canceled. Attempts to distance from the conflict and avoid negative impact on the head of state's image led to the refusal of this meeting.
