The president of 'Sion' refused to cancel the match with 'Zenit'. According to information from 'Glavkom', the friendly match between the teams is set to take place on July 9 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The press reports that 'Sion' could receive 320,000 euros for this match.

Earlier, the Swiss Football Association advised 'Sion' not to play in Russia, however, the club president decided not to back down. 'No one will cancel the match with 'Zenit', this is my initiative,' he told Russian propagandists.

In the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Russian national team and Russian clubs have been banned from international tournaments, including the World Cup. This refers to the loss of Russia's opportunity to participate in the final part of the tournament following the aggression in 2022. The honoring of the memory of the Russian occupier Bugaev during the UEFA congress sparked outrage and a negative reaction from Ukrainians.
