Profiles of the Honored Heroes

Among those honored was Major Vasyl Polahniuk, who carried out combat missions in the Serebrianske Forestry, eliminated 12 occupiers, and ensured the evacuation of the wounded. He died while saving his comrades under enemy fire. Junior Lieutenant Mykola Myronenko, who defended Robotyne, rescued the wounded and covered evacuations under fire, also perished while repelling an enemy assault. Senior Lieutenant of Police Dmytro Ahatiev led an assault group of the 'Lyut' Brigade in Toretsk, eliminated approximately 13 occupiers, and evacuated a wounded comrade before being killed by an FPV drone strike.

Additionally, Colonel Hennadii Kutsoi was recognized for organizing an ambush that eliminated over 20 occupiers and for leading a battle against an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group near Chasovyi Yar. Under his command, Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Ovsienko has held over 60 km of defensive lines in the Sumy region, destroying nearly 1,000 occupiers along with significant amounts of enemy equipment and fortifications.

Other service members awarded include:

  • Senior Sergeant Myron Chernovol
  • Colonel Maksym Yarosh
  • Captain Vitalii Kravchuk

These awards highlight the immense personal sacrifice and bravery demonstrated by Ukrainian forces in the ongoing defense of their nation. The ceremony serves as a powerful testament to the courage and self-sacrifice of Ukrainian military personnel fighting for the country's independence. It underscores the collective struggle for sovereignty and honors both individual acts of valor and the broader national effort.

Such recognition of military service is a poignant reminder of the human cost of the ongoing conflict. These state awards not only commemorate extraordinary personal feats but also serve to inspire others in the continued defense of the homeland.
