Mandatory Evacuations Ordered in Kharkiv and Sumy Regions
Due to a deteriorating security situation and intensified shelling, the Kharkiv Regional Defense Council has mandated the compulsory evacuation of families with children from 23 settlements in the Kupiansk district. This decision was made during an emergency council meeting. The ongoing conflict along Ukraine's northeastern front has created severe risks for civilians in these frontline areas.
To organize their departure, families can contact the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration hotline at 0 800 33 92 91. Separately, in the Donetsk region, authorities have also expanded the list of settlements for the mandatory evacuation of children with parents who are located within 10 kilometers of the active combat line.
Evacuation Details
Under the evacuation order, the Shevchenkove community encompasses 12 settlements, from which 756 people, including 74 children, are slated for evacuation. In the Velykyi Burluk community, the mandatory evacuation applies to 11 settlements, home to 34 families with 54 children.
Beyond Kharkiv, the Sumy region has announced evacuations from 23 settlements across five communities in the Sumy district, all situated within a 10-kilometer border zone. These measures are aimed at protecting civilian life and health from the direct threat of military action.
The compulsory evacuation of families from the Kupiansk and Sumy districts underscores a persistent escalation of the conflict in these regions, compelling local authorities to implement urgent measures to ensure population safety.
Amid active warfare, such decisions are deemed necessary to protect the most vulnerable groups, particularly children and their parents. Residents in the danger zones can access assistance and support through dedicated hotlines, which are intended to streamline the evacuation process and help ensure their security.
