A Royal Rift Reopens

A planned Netflix documentary about Princess Diana, scheduled for release in 2027 to mark the 30th anniversary of her death, has ignited a new dispute between Prince William and Prince Harry. William is reportedly considering legal action to block the film's release, viewing it as an attempt to commercialize his mother's tragic passing. The ongoing tensions between the brothers are a defining feature of the modern monarchy's public image.

According to reports from 'Glavkom', citing Radar Online, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aim to tell Diana's story from a perspective outside the monarchy. Prince William, however, is said to believe Meghan is behind the project and feels he alone has the right to narrate his mother's legacy. He has reportedly labeled Harry's collaboration with Netflix a betrayal of the royal family's interests.

Criticism and Media Moves

Buckingham Palace has repeatedly criticized Netflix, particularly following the release of 'The Crown'. Harry, for his part, has stated that his decision to confront the British tabloids was a primary reason for the deterioration of his family relationships, and he is disappointed by his relatives' lack of support in that fight.

In his recent media activities, Prince Harry appeared on 'The Late Show' in the US, participating in a comedy sketch where he playfully mocked former President Donald Trump while auditioning for a role in a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Harry has long held the belief that those tasked with protecting his mother failed in their duty during her life and after her death. He contends that the institution of the monarchy failed to offer Diana the necessary compassion and support during critical times and therefore cannot be a reliable guardian of her memory.

This latest controversy underscores the persistent tensions within the royal family, often amplified by media projects that draw criticism from the Palace. A film released on such a poignant anniversary risks further straining the brothers' relationship, as they hold fundamentally different views on their mother's legacy and its public portrayal. As conflicts over the personal and public lives of royals continue, these events could have serious long-term consequences for their reputations and familial bonds.
