And independent control of the operation of the internal units of a multi-split system is limited to the ability to maintain different temperatures in separate rooms, but the mode must be the same.
Another misconception: multi-split systems are more cost-effective. Let's take, for example, a three-room apartment with a kitchen. If split systems are installed in each room, a total of 8 units will be needed, while purchasing a multi-split system requires only 5. It seems that the second option is cheaper, but in reality, it will be more expensive due to the more complex design of the equipment.
Disadvantages of Multi-Split Systems
The main disadvantages of a multi-split system include:

- It is impossible to place all indoor units as close as possible to the outdoor unit, which increases the length of the inter-unit piping, the consumption of refrigerant, and pipes for the refrigerant line;
- Laying longer lines is more expensive, and in general, the work of installers becomes more complicated and requires higher qualification;
- The outdoor unit operates most of the time and more frequently requires servicing;
- If it breaks down, the entire system fails.
