Affordable Food Markets in Kyiv: Where to Find Subsidized Vegetables and Groceries Starting April 14

Доступні ринки продуктів у Києві: як знайти бюджетні овочі та продукти з 14 квітня

Affordable Food Markets in Kyiv

From April 14 to 19, Kyiv will host a series of agricultural food markets across various city districts. According to the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the Kyiv City State Administration, these markets will feature special social assistance tents where staple goods are sold at reduced, government-supported prices. These initiatives are part of broader efforts to ensure food security for residents during a period of economic pressure.

The social assistance tents offer a wide range of essential products, including:

  • Vegetables for a traditional borscht set
  • Groceries
  • Cereals and grains
  • Pasta
  • Sunflower oil
  • Sugar

The program is designed to provide the population with access to affordable food staples.

Cabbage Price Drop and Market Locations

Separately, the Ukrainian market has seen a significant drop in the price of white cabbage. Over the past week, the average cost has fallen by 22%. This decline is attributed to a deterioration in the quality of the stored 2025 harvest currently in warehouses.

The food markets will be held in different districts of Kyiv on the following dates:

  • April 14: Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
  • April 15: The same districts with new addresses, including Ann Akhmatova Street in Darnytskyi District and Velyka Vasylkivska Street in Pecherskyi District.
  • April 16: Markets on Yuliia Zdanovska Street in Holosiivskyi District and General Almazov Street in Pecherskyi District.
  • April 17: On Holosiivskyi Avenue, Ann Akhmatova Street, and other addresses.
  • April 18: In Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, and other districts, including Pankivska Street and Revutskoho Street.
  • April 19: In Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

A broad selection of products will also be available at Kyiv's municipal markets, such as the Volodymyrsky, Zhytniy, and Bessarabsky markets. These are located at:

  • 115 Antonovycha Street
  • 16 Verkhnii Val Street
  • 2 Bessarabska Square

Consequently, Kyiv residents will have the opportunity to purchase agricultural products at these markets and bazaars, which offer diverse options to meet their needs.

These markets represent a crucial support measure for the population amid rising food prices observed in the broader market. The social assistance tents help ensure the availability of basic foodstuffs for a wide segment of the public.

The falling price of white cabbage may also have a positive impact on the overall vegetable price situation, providing an additional benefit for consumers during the market events.
