Project "Community Rescue Officer"
The "Community Rescue Officer" project has been launched, operating for six months and covering 100% of territorial communities in Ukraine (except for temporarily occupied territories). Within the framework of this project, over 2300 officers have been trained and received certificates, enabling them to respond to emergencies, extinguish fires, and identify explosive devices.
Results of the Rescue Officers' Work
In the first four months of the project's implementation, rescue officers responded more than 970 times to various emergencies, as well as extinguishing over 33,500 fires. They also participated in the identification of more than 4300 explosive devices, which is a crucial step in ensuring public safety.
A specific area of work for rescue officers is collaboration with local government authorities. They provide assistance on civil protection planning issues and teach people how to act during emergencies. Igor Klymenko, head of the State Emergency Service, noted:
"Safety is not just about responding, but also about prevention, and the security system at the local level continues to strengthen."
The "Community Rescue Officer" project is an important element in the civil protection system of Ukraine, especially in the context of increased risks due to military actions and natural disasters. Expanding the functions of rescue officers and their active involvement in educating the public are key steps to improve community readiness for emergencies. This initiative can significantly enhance the level of security in the regions, as it provides quick responses to threats and raises public awareness about actions in critical situations.
