Більше 24 мільйонів євро виділено на модернізацію професійних училищ у Києві, Дніпрі та Волині із створенням центрів досконалості.

Investing in Ukraine’s Vocational Education

Vocational colleges in Kyiv, Dnipro, and the Volyn region are set to receive more than €24 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to establish advanced Centers of Professional Excellence. This significant funding agreement was signed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance, regional authorities, and the colleges themselves. The modernization plans include not only renovating educational buildings and dormitories but also acquiring state-of-the-art equipment and developing multipurpose hubs designed for training, retraining, and collaboration with the business sector.

Detailed Modernization Initiatives

According to the plans, the Kyiv-based vocational institution 'TECHNO-ART' will benefit from:

  • comprehensive refurbishment of its academic building and dormitory;
  • landscaping and improvement of the campus grounds;
  • purchase of training vehicles.

In Dnipro, the Vocational Technological College will undergo:

  • reconstruction of its main building including the installation of a shelter;
  • renovation of the dormitory;
  • acquisition of vehicles for driver education.

The Kolky Vocational Education Center in the Volyn region will receive support for:

  • upgrading its agricultural machinery laboratory and dormitory;
  • obtaining specialized equipment.

These Centers of Professional Excellence will serve as versatile hubs for learning new trades, enhancing skills, and fostering partnerships with businesses. The comprehensive overhaul encompasses classrooms, workshops, dormitories, and modern equipment procurement. The next phase involves launching international tenders following EIB regulations, with major construction scheduled for 2027–2028.

Gediminas Navickas, an EIB representative, emphasized, "Modern vocational education is essential for Ukraine’s recovery and future competitiveness."

Dmytro Zavgorodniy from the Ministry of Education and Science highlighted Ukraine’s advancement in vocational education reform, while Karl Nehammer remarked that "Ukraine’s reconstruction depends on skilled professionals."

The EIB’s financial commitment marks a crucial step toward aligning Ukraine’s vocational training with current labor market demands. Establishing these Centers will not only revitalize educational infrastructure but also equip students with up-to-date knowledge and skills, boosting their prospects for successful integration into the national economy. This initiative also reflects the vital role of international collaboration in rebuilding and enhancing Ukraine’s education system.
