Ukraine Weather Forecast for February 20

Ukraine is set for a day of cloudy skies and precipitation on February 20, with hazardous icy conditions expected on many roads. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, moderate snowfall is forecast for the Zakarpattia and Prykarpattia regions, as well as most central and eastern areas. Light snow is possible in some northern regions, while the rest of the country is expected to remain dry.

Icy glaze is predicted on roads across much of Ukraine, excluding the southeast and Zakarpattia. A northwesterly wind will blow at 5-10 m/s, shifting to southwesterly in the southeast. Nighttime temperatures will range from -4°C to -10°C, dropping to as low as -15°C in the north. Daytime highs will be between -1°C and -6°C.

Regional Temperature Breakdown

In Zakarpattia, the south, and southeast, nighttime lows will be between +2°C and -4°C, warming to +1°C to +7°C during the day. In Crimea, daytime temperatures could reach a high of +12°C. Kyiv will experience cloudy weather with occasional clear spells on February 20. While light snow is possible in the wider Kyiv region, the capital itself is not expected to see precipitation. Icy patches are likely on roads in and around Kyiv, with a northwesterly wind of 5-10 m/s.

Nighttime temperatures in the Kyiv region will be between -10°C and -15°C, rising to -1°C to -6°C in the day. Within the city of Kyiv, expect lows of -10°C to -12°C at night and daytime highs of -2°C to -4°C.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns, 'It is important to be cautious on the roads due to potential icy conditions, especially in the central and eastern regions.'

Given the forecast, extra caution is advised on roads due to the risk of ice, particularly in central and eastern Ukraine. In cities like Kyiv, drivers and pedestrians should account for the weather and take steps to avoid injuries and traffic accidents. The combination of snow and low temperatures may also impact outdoor activities, so planning around the conditions is recommended. This wintry mix is typical for late February in the region, but it still requires careful attention to travel safety.
