Ukraine's 'LightHome' Initiative Grants 3.3 Million Hryvnias for Power Supply to 12 Apartment Buildings

Ініціатива 'LightHome' в Україні виділила 3.3 млн гривень на забезпечення електроенергією 12 багатоквартирних будинків.

The 'LightHome' Program

Launched in late January 2026, the 'LightHome' program is designed to secure a stable power supply for residents of multi-apartment buildings. A commission from Ukraine's Ministry for Communities and Territories Development has approved funding totaling 3.3 million hryvnias for 12 buildings in Kyiv and the surrounding region. This initiative will address the energy needs of more than 1,900 families, providing crucial support for communities facing infrastructure challenges.

Funding and Equipment

According to the commission's decision, nine of the buildings are located in Kyiv, with the remaining three in the cities of Boryspil, Brovary, and Vasylkiv. Funds will be transferred to the applicants' accounts within 48 hours. Upon receiving the financing, the communities will have 45 days to purchase and install the necessary equipment, which includes:

  • High-capacity generators,
  • Solar panels,
  • Inverters,
  • Batteries,
  • High-voltage battery management units.

The program provides grants ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias per building.

Project partners include Oschadbank, Raiffeisen Bank, and Ukrgasbank, with three other financial institutions set to join soon. Meanwhile, nine community groups were denied funding, primarily due to submitting incomplete documentation.

"The commission works daily to ensure decisions are made as quickly as possible. Funds will be transferred to the applicants' accounts within 48 hours. After that, communities have 45 days to purchase and install the equipment," stated Oleksiy Kubra, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration.

The program is being implemented jointly by Ukraine's Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

The launch of the 'LightHome' program marks a significant step in ensuring a reliable power supply for the population, particularly as the country's energy infrastructure requires extensive repair and modernization. Funding these 12 buildings in the capital and nearby cities underscores the government's efforts to improve living conditions and support energy resilience. The initiative also paves the way for further cooperation with financial institutions, which could foster the development of new energy-sector projects.
