State 'LightHome' Initiative Funds Backup Power for Apartment Blocks
Residents of Kyiv and the surrounding region have submitted 864 applications for the state-funded 'LightHome' program. As of February 19, authorities have processed 834 of these requests, approving 359 and rejecting 475. The primary reasons for rejection were technical errors in documentation, inaccuracies, missing certificates, or omitted data.
To date, 256 apartment buildings have received funding, with total payments exceeding 68.5 million hryvnias. This government initiative provides grants ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias for the purchase of autonomous power sources for multi-unit residential buildings. This program is a direct response to the critical need for energy resilience in Ukraine's housing infrastructure. To receive aid, co-owners must open a special hryvnia account with one of the program's partner banks. The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine has prepared detailed explanations of common mistakes to assist applicants.
Program Benefits and Application Process
Each rejection is accompanied by specific instructions on what needs correction, after which the application can be resubmitted. The 'LightHome' program helps co-owners of apartment buildings purchase independent power sources, ensuring that during prolonged blackouts, residents are not left without light, water, heat, communication, or working elevators.
The 'LightHome' program represents a crucial step in bolstering the energy security of residential buildings, particularly under conditions of frequent power disruptions. Possessing an autonomous power supply can significantly improve residents' quality of life by reducing their dependence on centralized grid systems. It is vital for building owners to carefully adhere to the program's requirements, as strict compliance with the guidelines can greatly increase the chances of securing funding.
