Situation with the construction of the territory of the Main Astronomical Observatory
The Kyiv city prosecutor's office has filed a lawsuit in the Economic Court to declare the construction contract for the territory of the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine invalid. The land plot intended for construction covers an area of 7.43 hectares and is valued at over 100 million UAH. This area also contains a local nature monument - 'Old Oaks'.
The scientific institution entered into an agreement with a private company, according to which the developer was to acquire nearly 90% of the area of the future property. However, the Kyiv City State Administration did not make decisions regarding the transfer of the land plot for construction, which complicates the legal situation.
Court proceedings and preservation of cultural heritage
The Economic Court of Kyiv has already opened proceedings in this case. In addition, prosecutors have filed an appeal against the court's decision regarding the arrest of land plots in Tsymliansky Lane and Kirilivska Street. It is important to note that construction work is underway, which may damage the cultural layer of Podil. The demolition of the historical building of the Weaving Workshop has also begun in Kyiv, raising additional concerns about the preservation of cultural heritage.
This situation highlights the importance of legal protection for cultural and natural objects in the context of construction. The court's decision may have far-reaching consequences not only for the developer but also for the preservation of unique ecosystems and historical landmarks of Kyiv. It is expected that further court proceedings will become a significant stage in shaping construction policy in the capital, considering the growing public interest in the protection of cultural heritage.
